Deep Into DC Charger and AC Charger

I. The difference between DC charger and AC charger

In order to solve the charging problem of AC to DC, there is a conversion method.

DC electric car charging, commonly known as "fast charging", DC charger which varing from 30kw DC charger to 120kw DC charger is a power supply device fixed outside the electric car, connected to the AC power grid to provide DC power to the non-vehicle electric car power battery. The input voltage of the charger adopts three-phase four-wire AC 380V±15%, frequency 50Hz, and the output is adjustable DC power, which can provide enough power to charge the power battery of electric vehicles directly, and the output voltage and current can be adjusted in a wide range to realize the requirements of fast charging.

AC electric vehicle charging, commonly known as "slow charging", AC charger is fixed outside the electric vehicle, connected to the AC grid, to provide AC power supply for the vehicle charger power supply device. AC charging pile only provides power output, no charging function, and needs to be connected to the vehicle charger to charge the electric vehicle, and its role is to control the power supply.

II. The difference between DC charger and AC charger

DC charger is directly outputting DC power to charge vehicle batteries, with higher power (such as 60kW, 200kW or higher) and faster charging speed, generally installed in charging stations beside highways. AC charging piles output single-phase/three-phase AC power through the vehicle charger into DC power to charge the vehicle battery, the power is generally smaller (such as 7kW, 40kW, etc.), the charging speed is slower, and is generally installed in the community parking lot and other places.

III. Charging line differences between DC charger and AC charger

DC charger is larger in size, with a certain number of AC-DC power modules inside and higher power, and the more modules there are, the larger they are. AC charger is smaller in size, and the more obvious between the two is that the DC charger head is a 9-wire plug, and the AC charger head is a 7-wire plug.
